NZ info.

New Zealand is a country in the south-western Pacific ocean. The Maori name of new Zealand is Aotearoa, which means ‘The Land of the Long White Cloud’. New Zealand has three main islands called North Island, South Island and Stewart Island. New Zealand also includes Tokelau, the Cook Island and Niue. In 1840 a treaty, called the Treaty of Waitangi, was signed between the Maori and the British, making New Zealand a colony of Britain. The main languages spoken in New Zealand are English, Te Reo Maori and New Zealand Sign Language.

In Maori the name for Auckland is Tamaki Makaurau. Auckland has the largest Polynesians of any country in the world and has become one of the most popular cities in the world. Even though Auckland isn’t the capital city of New Zealand it has the largest population. It has 1, 400, 200 residents compared to Wellington (437,700 residents and is the capital city of New Zealand), and Christchurch has 376,700 residents.

  1. Hi Sesalina,
You have researched a lot to find out information on New Zealand. I think that you should rework your work before you publish your post. I wonder if you think that Auckland should be the capital city of New Zealand? Well done and keep up the great work.
