Farewell

My time at Pt England was the best. It was so fun at Pt England because we explored a lot. We went to awesome camps that we haven't been before. I even made Awesome friends named Dante, Kimberly, Senolita, Elizabeth, Te Rina. My Teacher taught us a lot and my favourite thing to do is making movies and Painting New Zealand icons.

We even visited a shop that looked like Lolly world but it was full of Jelly Beans. Pt England was a great experience.

Camp

Yr 8 camp was so amazing because we did a lot of cool activities all over rotarua.  We went to a awesome pool that look like a spa but we had to walk threw bushes and trees to get there it was so hot.
We went on buses like every single day but it was fun it was better than running every morning.

We went to the luge and it was so cool. we had to get into groups to go in the skyline I was with Turuhira, Kan, Jesiah, Mr Chong Nee and Hare. The skyline took us very high. Hare was so funny she thought we were going to fall she covered her eyes and everyone was laughing.

There was a shop called the Jelly Belly it was full of yummy jelly Beans. t was so cool seeing all the colourful lollies. there was even jelly Beans art work and you could eat the jelly beans .

Net Book Refection 2013

Having a Net book is a Awesome because we can research a lot of different things. Mostly on my Net book games are so Popular since I'm going to be a teenager and they are addicted to gamesI would always try to finish my work so I could have time to play some of my Favourite games.

At school we work on or net book a lot that we have no time to go to our teacher. So my teacher made a site for us so we know what we are doing for or work and what is happening during school. Having a net book is so amazing because I've learnt a lot of things. I've been on a lot of different websites like scratch its fun we could create our own games and little animations.

The Day Santa Came To School

Secretly a group of people came to our school during assembly with an amazing surprised. We were told that they were going to give every single person would get a present from there four wheeled Slade. Everyone was shocked with happiness.

We got into a two groups of boys and girls. The boys was on one side of the hall and the girl was on the other side of the Hall. One row at a time the girls and boys stood up and grabbed one present each from inside of the red sacks of presents.

The presents were a mystery no one had no idea what was in the presents. Everyone tried to take a glimpse of what the presents were look like. We are so grateful and like to say a big thank you to Johnson and Johnson for the wonderful donation donation.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela is was one of the greatest men alive.  Nelson  Mandela was born into Madiba clan in mvezo. He was named after a teacher who was name Nelson. Believe it or not he was the first dark president of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela attended a primary school near a town called Qunu. Nelson even went Clarkebury Boarding Institute in Engcobo. Nelson went to Healdtown, the Wesleyan College at Fort Beaufort He was lucky enough to go to the university of fort hare in Alice.

Nelson was Arrested and charged for violating the Suppression of Communism. He was Elected to be the ANC President. Convicted with J.S Moroka, Walter Sisulu and 17 others under the Suppression of Communism. He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment with hard labour, suspended for two years. Nelson Elected first of ANC deputy presidents and he opens South Africa’s first black law firm with Oliver Tambo.

An important event happened  when Nelson Mandela was released from prison on Robben Island in South Africa where he was serving a life sentence 1990. An international campaign had lobbied for his release. which was granted in 1990. After becoming ANC President, Mandela led negotiations with President F.W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory.

Nelson Mandela was a great inspiration to the whole world. he helped a lot of people who was treated like slaves. he is like a father to the world.

Sadly in 5 December 2013 (Age 95) Nelson Mandela died.  He left a lot of memories  and hopefully he would go to heaven still remembering them.

Swimming Writing

Diving in the pools my hands shivered as I swam my way threw the deep water until I got to the Other side. As I got out of the water I freaked out because I thought I was the stupidest swimmer  in my group. My teacher Miss King had really hard moves. I didn't learn them quickly but it was fun swimming.

Andrea was the coolest swimmer in my group she was so funny she couldn't swim properly like me. I was so lucky to have her in my group. I cant wait until we swim again but with no teacher because its too hard swimming with someone who is going to talk about my swimming skills.

Comparing and Contrasting Life in Malawi

In our literacy group we are comparing and contrasting our life to a person from another country. We have to compare our life to the life of Omar, a 12 year old girl from a country named Malawi.

Omar’s life at school is hard, because she has to wake up at 6:00 in the morning, and go to school. Before they start their lessons at 7:00 Omar and her classmates have to clean up the school.

Starting the day they sing the national anthem, gathered together in a whole school assembly, to start and finish their day well.

They have 2 breaks only during the day. The 1st one is at 8:40 and 2nd one at 10:40 and their breaks last for only 10 minutes. There are two  main sports that they play during school breaks , the girls play a game of netball and the boys love to play football.

A long time ago Omars parents died when she was a little girl that's why she and her siblings have to live with her grandparents. Omar has to cook for the family everyday, her chores also include fetching water from the well, tend the garden, pounding the cassava into flour and she has to help her grandfather too. He is a very important man in his family and also his village,  he’s the chief !

Life is hard in Malawi, schools don't have electricity and nearly all the kids can't afford textbooks. Some kids who are 16 sometimes stay on in the same class for years, because it  was too hard for them to pass school exams.

Girls have a very hard life in the village. Some girls are like mothers who stay at home and do everything for the little kids. Its hard for the girls to study  because there are a lot of things happening in their lives that they are expected to do.

In contrast to Omars school, our school in NZ has electricity and more money than Omars school. Her school doesn’t have any electricity plus, they don’t have much money. Our similarities are that we walk to school but, she walks 6 km to school, where as we only walk 5 minutes.

Another similarity is that at home we do chores too. Here at nz we do help or moms with chores but we don’t fetch water we get it from a tap or from the supermarkets.

At Omars school the girls favourite sport is only netball, but the girls at our school love to play rugby or Soccer even basketball or touch but mostly tag as well as netball. The boys at Omars country likes to play football, but the boys at our school love to play rugby.

There are more boys than girls at Omar’s school but, there’s an equal amount of girls and boys at our school (Pt England). The reason why there are fewer girls is that they are expected to stay home and help out the family. Girls in new zealand can’t stay at home otherwise their parents will go to jail or get fines. Girls and boys are treated equally in NZ.

NZ exams are different to their exams because their exams are at the end of the year, and if they don’t pass they have to get put down. In NZ if we don’t pass we have to do our test again but we still move up to the next class.

All though there are some similarities between our lives and theirs, we still a lot of different things in our lives.

1st Day At School

Arriving at school I was scared I wouldn't meet any friends. I held onto my Mother wishing this day would be over. When she left I cryed and Cryed, my eyes looked like rain pouring down my face. When I looked around I knew this would be a nightmare. Nervously waiting I was lost. My hands were shaking like an earthquake, I was going to scream but didn't want to embarrass myself on the first day.

Luckily a kind girl came to me and start rubbing my back her name was Turuhira. Turuhira grabbed hold of my arm and said do you want to be my friend,  “Yes” yelled with excitement, but I was still shy. I followed her everywhere,  She knew where everything was, Turuhira was so funny. Strong and beautiful, Turuhira was the best friend ever.

Determined to draw a picture I got scared, I wasn’t an artist. I looked at everyone around me and they drew fast. I grabbed a red crayon and started to draw a dinosaur. I knew I had to be brave. “YAY” my dinosaur was finally finished, It had a red nose and blue spikes on it, I even had a green body and a sharp tail. I realized this school was so fun “I CANT WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW”!!...

Halloween

Halloween was originated in the early Middle Ages as a Catholic vigil observed on the eve of All Saints Day, November 1.  November 1 2011 People believed that some Halloween traditions have been from an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain which was  Christianised by Churches from a long time a go.

People celebrate Halloween by making big parties or going to peoples house to get treats. Some kids go and prank people or dress up in silly costumes. All the saints and west christians celebrate it by worshipping someone called samhain because he would put spirits into people with black magic.

A lot of countries have celebrated this holiday, Japan and England are some of the countries. China celebrate a Festival of the Hungry Ghosts. It is the less celebrated, it is an opportunity to give gifts to spirits of the dead to provide comfort and scare them off.
it doesn't say was year Halloween started. A lot of kids love celebrating Halloween. Halloween can sometimes be celebrated in secret groups that are unknown.

Instructions/Sample Beach! Draft 1

We Just arrived at the beach, “Let Me Go”, I screamed as my cousins left me out of the car and threw me in to the beach. My tears sprinkled down my face as I got ready to get revenge. As Stanton got ready to dive I pushed him into the water when suddenly he grabbed  hold of my arm and tightly hugged me as we both got thrown into the beach."HA-HA", Stanton stood and laughed at me. I leaped into the air and landed on his back like a frog, his mouth opened wide like a lion, and that's when we had a wrestling Competition in the Water.

“Ouch!”, Something flew from the sky and landed on my head, My face almost blew up.  A lump began to grow. “Pass the Ball and Play Man”!, My friends yelled. We both zoomed like lighting a crossed to them, Their eyes open like they were aliens. They had no idea we were fast. “Lets Play”.

Stanton sprinted trying to get a try, “BOOM!” he fell to the ground, His hands covered his face, he looked like a baby unborn. I laughed and laughed until I realized I was acting rood my cousin was hurt and I didn't help. Unfinished Sorry

GOALS:
ADD: More similes, Verbs, And I need to do better hooks, Make sense.

Turuhira And Sesalina Hexagonal Learning

Turuhira And Sesalina Hexagonal Learning from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.
We have been learning about a Hexagonal Learning. Turuhira and I experienced heaps of stuff and arguing to justify our Hexagonal Learning.  People in our class were arguing whether it goes in the right spot or not.

Rainbow Warrior Attack

In 1985 an awful event happened. Fernando Pereira was in a ship called Rainbow
warrior as they celebrated the director of the anti-nuclear movements 29 -Th birthday of the Greenpeace. While they were celebrating two French spies wearing scuba gear dived secretly under the rainbow warrior and attached two Olympic bombs onto the ship. The two bombs exploded just before midnight leaving Fernando pereira dead inside the wrecked ship.

Two French spies were arrested but three others escaped in a yacht. Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart was found guilty of manslaughter and were sentenced to 10 years in prison because of the bombing. They were sent to a small island in the Pacific but in two years time, they returned to their countries and got awarded for bombing the Rainbow Warrior.

Later the French President told them that he had been involved in the bombing to the rainbow warrior. The French government wanted to stop Greenpeace from protesting their nuclear testing in the Pacific. After That the French government had paid $13 million to New Zealand.

The negative impact of the nuclear weapon could affect a lot of people like Death, Radiation, Poisoning, health Problems, Cancer, Birth Death. That's why we shouldn't have any nuclear weapons in our world so nobody could get hurt we could have a Nuclear Free Zone.

Restaurant Question

Elizabeth - More Pizza Maths from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.

The Pizza Place in my town has three
tables of the same size. The Chicken
N Chips restaurant has four of the
same sort of table.
The Chicken N Chips can just seat 24
people. How many people can The
Pizza Place seat?
Now a third of the seats at The Chicken N Chips were
empty and a half of the places at The Pizza Place were
empty. If 18 more people wanted to eat out, how many
would have to be turned away from the two restaurants?

Answer: 1
So the pizza place cant seat 8 people and 9 people cant go to The Chicken N Chips, So 9+8=17 but we need 1 more to make 18.

Cross Country

Sliding threw the slippery mud I jogged my hardest trying to keep up with my friend Dante. She was coming first and then she slowed down coming 5th. I knew if I stopped somebody will run pass me so I never stopped.

Mud splashed every where on my body I felt sticky and gooey. I huffed and puffed trying to brief properly. My heart was pumping like I was gong to die. My face looked looked like a lion as I running towards miss king. I wanted to stop but I just ran.

My legs almost clasped but I was determined to strive so I keep on going. I was happy to see every one cheering me on. My legs was filled with goose bumps and my face was getting red. I was so shy  I almost fell over. But  I still managed to keep my head held up and  I still ran.

As I started my second lap I started to past my class mates. It looked like they were gong to faint. I was proud of my self because even dough my legs were tired I never gave up. I was covered in mud. My legs was so sour and my face looked tired. I never came first place but  I was lucky enough to come 8th place.

StoryBoard

Reflection Love

Turuhira, Kimberly, Dante and I created a movie that was about Best friends. We chose a song called Oath by Cher Lloyd. Its one of the best songs about friendship. we all decided that it would be entertaining having a fun and funky music that has no swearing or other bad lyrics in it.

So we decided to take fast shots so each clip won’t be boring, We also used Mr Liufau to be a teacher because he is good at acting and funny to watch. The clips flowed well with the music and everything connected.

Our movie was not about love but It was about friendship.

Sadly we needed to add more detail to our clips like lip singing and making the video more clear so everyone can see what actually happened.

Zion, Sesalina - MLK Narrative...

Marching down the Mall towards the Lincoln Memorial we felt united having a little support from our past enemies. We all held up signs saying that we want freedom and equal rights. “Hurry Zion”, I yelled as we raced to the front of the huge crowed.  I really wanted to see Martin Luther King, “WAIT”, Zion shouted.. Zion sprinted towards me and said “Do you think they won't treat us bad again?”, I whispered in his ear and said “I Think”.

Glancing at Martin Luther king, My family and I held hands as he got ready to say his speech. His Speech started with “I HAD A DREAM”, He was so confident and he had a Big smile on his face. hopefully he made the Whites realized their not the only people in this world. I  turned and looked at the crowd, people were crying and hugging each other, seeing them being emotional mad me cry. My Mum said  “If we're lucky enough we could all have freedom. and nobody got hurt.” that's when I  started to feel happy!

MlK - Martin Luther King
